Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year we will run the clinic in the RSL hall, which is in the building next door to AMC – 13 Bugden Ave Alstonville.
Patients need to ring reception on (02) 6628 3101 to be booked into the flu clinic.
Please note we can only run clinics if we have supply of the vaccine and may need to pause bookings until stocks arrive at times. Please remember this is not the fault of our receptionists who are doing their very best to allocate you to a clinic as soon as possible. Please treat our receptionists with the respect they deserve. This is a very stressful time for everyone.
We request that you only arrive at the RSL hall at the time of your appointment, not before, in order to prevent large numbers of people gathering in one place.
We will have marks on the ground to indicate where to stand whilst waiting to go into the clinic. Please maintain 1.5 metres between yourself and other people.
You are eligible for a free flu shot if you belong to any of the categories below:
- – children aged 6 months to less than 5 years
- – aged 65 years and over
- – pregnant women
- – all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 6 months and older
- – aged 5 years to under 65 years with medical risk factors:
- – heart disease
- – severe asthma requiring a preventer
- – chronic lung conditions
- – diseases of the nervous system which affect your breathing
- – impaired immunity
- – diabetes
- – kidney disease
- – haemoglobinopathies
- – children aged 6 months to 10 years on long-term aspirin therapy
If you are not eligible for a free flu shot you will be required to pay $15 on the day.
We are only taking payment by card, no cash, and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
If you are unwell on the day with fever, cough or respiratory symptoms, please do not attend the flu clinic. Please call reception to reschedule.
You will see the doctor prior to having your flu shot and your temperature will be taken before entering the building.
The flu clinic is not set up for people who may need extra time when they have immunisations, for example those that need to lie down or adults or children who are very anxious about the process. Please book an appointment in the medical centre for your flu needle if you think this applies to you or your family.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Alstonville RSL sub-branch Members for their generous offer to use their hall in this unprecedented time.
